Taking x-rays is an essential part of any equine veterinary practice. X-rays are often used to help diagnose the cause of lameness but may also be used to diagnose other problems such as a dental abscess. At Stable Close Equine Practice we have the best mobile digital x-ray equipment available to equine practices.

Our TruDR digital x-ray system is the most up-to-date and most mobile digital x-ray system providing us with better facilities than many clinics at your premises. It allows us to take digital x-rays and view them 5 seconds later. A diagnosis can be made on-site and most importantly, further shots taken if something of interest is seen or the x-rays do not show the problem perfectly. Stable Close Equine Practice is one of only a few practices in the UK to have a TruDR digital system.
Q. Is this very expensive for horse owners?
A. No. We charge the same as we did before we had digital x-ray equipment and you do not have to transport the horse to us.
Q. Is it true that mobile x-rays are never as good as those taken at a big hospital?
A. No. By using a modern x-ray machine with the best mobile digital system we can produce fantastic x-rays.
Q. What facilities are needed for the mobile diagnostic unit?
A. A power supply and a reasonably level piece of ground.
Q. You are not my usual vets but I can't take my horse to a clinic for x-rays. Can you help?
A. Yes, we sometimes travel further afield to take x-rays for other practices. It is done in conjunction with your vet and the appointment needs to be booked through them. See Contact Us.
