Stable Close Equine Practice is a 100% horse practice operated by two experienced
equine vets, Malcolm Morley and Alex David. We are assisted by Kate May and
Andrew Kennedy who is a consultant to the practice.
Stable Close Equine Practice was originally part of Stable
Close Veterinary Clinic in Winchester until November 2003 when we became
a separate practice carrying out only equine work from Bridgets Farm in Martyr
Worthy.
In the office we are assisted by Tessa Driscoll and Lucy Walkington. They
both have a great deal of experience in keeping an equine practice running smoothly
and many of you agree that they are an essential part of our team.
The Veterinary Team
Alex David BVSc MRCVS
Alex qualified from the University of Bristol in 1996. She was initially employed
at Stable Close Veterinary Clinic where her work became predominantly equine.
In 2001 she joined Peter Scott-Dunn’s equine practice in Berkshire where
a large proportion of her work involved lameness and internal medicine investigations.
Alex has been a partner in Stable Close Equine practice since 2003. She is also
a qualified BHS assistant instructor and has competed at British Eventing one day and three day events up to intermediate level.
Malcolm Morley BVSc MRCVS
Malcolm qualified from the University of Bristol in 1993. He joined the Liphook
Equine Hospital in Hampshire for 2 years before spending 12 months in Australia
with Brett Jones the Australian show jumping team vet and then 6 months in Lambourn.
He rejoined the Liphook Equine Hospital in 1996 and worked there until 2003 when
he became a partner at Stable Close Equine Practice. Malcolm's interests cover
many aspects of equine practice and reflect a need to provide a wide variety of
care. Malcolm is married to Poppy, a hospital doctor, and they have three young
children.
Kate May BVM&S CertEP MRCVS
Kate qualified from the University of Edinburgh in 2001. Immediately after qualifying
she worked in a North Yorkshire mixed practice. In April 2002 she joined the Liphook
Equine Hospital where she worked for 18 months. Kate has a Jack Russell called
Archie who accompanies her on many of her calls. She is currently without a horse
but rides out point-to-pointers before work in the winter! She has been a member
of our practice since April 2004.
Alix Jackson BVetMed BSc MRCVS
Alix qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2006 and spent 2 years
working at O'Gorman Slater and Main of Newbury. We are delighted that Alix has
joined Stable Close Equine Practice in March 2008. In her spare time she enjoys
running, travel and skiing.
Andrew Kennedy BVM&S MRCVS
Andrew is an experienced veterinary surgeon who has practiced in Winchester since
1967. We are delighted that he remains as a consultant to the equine practice.
Occasionally Andrew revisits cases he has known for a long time or covers emergencies.
He enjoys being "on duty" at several equestrian events in the south of England.
The Office Team
Tessa Driscoll
Tessa has owned and worked with horses for many years and is a qualified BHS Assistant
Instructor. She currently owns and occasionally competes on Toby, another coloured
cob! She also has a black Labrador, Inde, who can sometimes be found assisting
in the Stable Close office.
Lucy Walkington
Lucy has spent much of her life with horses and ponies and studied for a National
Diploma in Horse Management at Hartpury and Sparsholt Colleges. Lucy owns Honey
a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who sleeps in the corner of our office on most days.
Lucy is currently on maternity leave but she is currently being covered by Helen
Warburton.
Helen Warburton
Helen has grown up in
the Winchester area and ridden for over 10 years. She studied Equine Science at
Harpury College and owns a German Warmblood, Goliath, whom she hopes to compete
over summer 2008.
