Stable Close Equine Practice is a 100% horse practice owned by two experienced
equine vets, Malcolm Morley and Alex David. We are assisted by Victoria Ludlow
and Lucy Stamp.
Stable Close Equine Practice was originally part of Stable
Close Veterinary Clinic in Winchester until November 2003 when we became
a separate practice carrying out only equine work from Bridgets Farm in Martyr
Worthy.
In the office we are assisted by Tessa Driscoll, Lucy Burrell and Sue Grace.
They all have a great deal of experience in keeping an equine practice running
smoothly and many of you agree that they are an essential part of our team.
The Veterinary Team
Malcolm Morley BVSc MRCVS
Malcolm qualified from the University of Bristol in 1993. He joined the Liphook
Equine Hospital in Hampshire for 2 years before spending 12 months in Australia
and then 6 months in Lambourn. He rejoined the Liphook Equine Hospital in 1996
and worked there until 2003 when he became a partner at Stable Close Equine Practice.
Malcolm is married to Poppy, a hospital doctor, and they have three young children.
He is a council member of the British
Equine Veterinary Association and chairs their Pre-Purchase Examination Committee.
Alex Sergeant BVSc MRCVS
Alex qualified from the University of Bristol in 1996. She was initially employed
at Stable Close Veterinary Clinic where her work became predominantly equine.
In 2001 she joined Peter Scott-Dunn’s equine practice in Berkshire where
a large proportion of her work involved lameness and internal medicine investigations.
Alex has been a partner in Stable Close Equine practice since 2003. She is also
a qualified BHS assistant instructor and has competed at British Eventing one
day and three day events up to intermediate level. Alex became Mrs Sergeant in July 2010 when she married Rob, an officer in the Coldstream Guards. After the arrival of Charlie Sergeant in June 2011, she is on maternity leave until December 2011.

obtained a Zoology degree at the University of Bristol. She completed an internship
at the Liphook Equine Hospital in 2005 and has since worked in specialist horse

1967. We are delighted that he remains as a consultant to the equine practice.
Occasionally Andrew revisits cases he has known for a long time or covers emergencies.
He enjoys being "on duty" at several equestrian events in the south of England.
The Office Team
Tessa Driscoll
Tessa has owned and worked with horses for many years and is a qualified BHS Assistant
Instructor and holds the Veterinary Practice Administrators Certificate (VPAC). She currently owns and occasionally competes on
Toby, a coloured cob.
She has four black Labradors;
Inde,
Bramley,
Cosmo and
Woody who can sometimes be found assisting
in the Stable Close office.
Lucy Burrell
Lucy has spent much of her life with horses and ponies and studied for a National
Diploma in Horse Management at Hartpury and Sparsholt Colleges. Lucy has worked
at Stable Close Equine Practice since April 2006 and has primary responsibility
for dealing with insurance claim forms.
Sue Grace
Sue has worked with horses and ponies for many years although more recently she
worked in a local doctors' surgery. We welcomed Sue to the practice in July 2008
and she has responsibility for ordering many of the drugs we use.
Dogs
Inde, Bramley, Cosmo & Woody
Tessa's dogs are often spread around our office but are so well behaved you might not even notice them. They would prefer to be running around in the fields but do enjoy basking under the office heaters.
Fern
Fern is a 4 year old Vizsla belonging to Tori. You are unlikely to see her out of the car but she enjoys life as a vet's dog on the road!
