Radiology
Radiology (x-ray) can be used to investigate, diagnose and manage various health conditions in horses.
The advantages of x-ray
Taking x-rays is an essential part of equine veterinary practice, and our vets are experienced and committed to producing consistently high quality images that are fundamental for the accurate diagnosis and management of a wide range of conditions.
While x-rays are most commonly used in the investigation of lameness and in sports medicine, they are also invaluable for assessing many other areas, including the head and teeth.

Mobile x-rays
All of our vets are equipped with fully mobile digital x-ray systems, some of which are battery operated. These can be used at your yard, even if you do not have a power source available.
All we require is a flat, clean area under cover. This allows us to obtain excellent quality images quickly and efficiently.
Digital radiography allows for instant image review and interpretation, which in many cases allows for a diagnosis to be made immediately.
Advances in digital imaging mean that the quality of mobile radiography is now comparable to that achieved in hospital settings, enabling us to obtain excellent images without transporting your horse.
Images can also be easily shared with other professionals involved in your horse’s care.
We frequently work alongside farriers, using radiographs to guide trimming and remedial shoeing, helping to optimise foot balance and improve outcomes.
We also collaborate with veterinary specialists, including dental and orthopaedic experts, to ensure the most accurate diagnosis and best possible treatment plan.
